National Technology Day is celebrated every year on May 11, to mark Indian technological advancement. The day, May 11, has been declared National Technology Day by the Indian Government in order to commemorate the history of India’s technological capability and expertise. The day holds importance of its own, as on this particular day, India achieved a huge technological progression. The first, indigenous aircraft “Hansa-3” was test flown from Bangalore. India performed successful test firing of the Trishul missile on the same day and also executed three successful nuclear tests, carried out at Pokhran, in Rajasthan. It was only on May 11, 1998, when India successfully tested 5 nuclear powered bombs in Pokhran, Rajasthan, to demonstrate its defence capability. This is regarded as one of the significant moments of Indian history.
The National Technology Day has a different theme every year. The theme for this year’s National Technology Day is “School to Startups- Igniting Young Minds to Innovate”. The programs and celebrations for the 2023 National Technology Day will have a special focus on the Atal Innovation Mission, a government initiative to promote “a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship across the length and breadth of our country
For 2023, the theme is ‘School to Startups-Igniting Young Minds to Innovate.’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the programme marking National Technology Day 2023, at Pragati Maidan, on 11th May 2023 at 10:30 AM. The programme will also mark the commencement of the celebration of the 25th year of National Technology Day, which will be held from May 11 to 14, 2023”. D. Y.
